MUSEUM FORTY YEARS

MUSEUM DEDICATION 1972

The French Cable Station museum was formally dedicated on July 2, 1972
and then opened to the public for visiting throughout the summer season,
and by appointment the rest of the year.
The museum had been placed on the National Register of Historical Monuments earlier that year on April 26, 1972.

Attending the dedication was the Honorable John F. X. Davoren, who was not only Secretary of State of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
but also Chairman of the Massachusetts Historical Commission.
Other distinguished guest included M. Daniel Oriez, Counsul General of France,
M. Berenger, manager of the French Cable Company, representatives from the Smithsonian Institution,
the Superintendent of the Cape Cod National Seashore, and the Orleans Selectmen.

1972 was a significant year for the French Cable Station Museum.
